Getting Started

  • Yes. In New York State, you must have a valid learner permit to take driving lessons on public roads.

If you don’t have one yet, we can guide you through the process.

    1. Get your learner permit (written test at the DMV)

    2. Complete Driver’s Ed (for under 18) or the 5-hour pre-licensing course (for everyone else)

    3. Take driving lessons

    4. Schedule and pass your road test

  • There is no fixed number.

    Typical ranges based on experience:

    • Beginner: 10–20 lessons

    • Some experience: 5–10 lessons

    • Test-ready: 1–3 lessons

We assess your level and recommend a plan after your first session.
