The Driver Pre-Licensing Course

The pre-licensing course is a required 5-hour class for all New York learner’s permit holders aged 18 and older before obtaining a driver’s license. It covers essential safe driving topics, including road rules, defensive driving strategies, and basic vehicle operation.

What You Get After The Course:

You will receive a MV-278 Pre-Licensing Course Completion Certificate. The MV-278 is proof that you've completed the mandatory 5-hour Pre-Licensing Course, which is a prerequisite for taking the road test to get a New York State driver's license. 

You may opt to have the certificate mailed to your address or handed to you during your next lesson.
